Description
This kit fits the 2017 through 2021 Toyota 86, and that coverage spans every trim from those years: Base, GT, GT Black, 860 Special Edition, TRD Special Edition, and Hakone Edition. It is a hinge conversion from Vertical Doors, Inc. (VDI), part number VDCTOY8617, that changes the way the factory doors open, rotating them straight up in a vertical arc instead of swinging them out. Here is what comes in the box:
- 2 Vertical Doors, Inc. lambo door hinges, one for each side
- 2 gas shocks
- All the mounting hardware for the conversion
The hinges mount directly to the factory bolt pattern, so this is a bolt-on job rather than a fabrication project, and the whole conversion is reversible if you ever decide to put the car back to stock. VDI builds these kits in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the design is patented here as well. An instruction manual ships with every kit and VDI backs it with free tech support, but we recommend having a professional installer do the work, following the instructions supplied with the kit.
