Mechanically, this kit is a hinge swap. Part number VDCFM0510 from Vertical Doors, Inc. replaces the stock hinges on your Mustang with hinge assemblies that swing the door out and then straight up, with a gas shock on each side to carry the door’s weight through its travel. The whole thing bolts to the factory bolt pattern on the body and the door, which keeps the job straightforward and keeps your car intact.

Fitment covers the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Ford Mustang in every trim. The hinges are built in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the design is patented here too. Because it bolts to existing mounting points, the conversion is completely reversible: put the factory hinges back on and the car returns to stock.
