This kit fits the 2005 through 2015 Toyota Tacoma and covers every trim built in those years. It is part number VDCTOYTAC2013&UP from Vertical Doors, Inc., and it converts the Tacoma’s standard door swing to a vertical lambo-style opening. Each door pivots upward on a replacement hinge instead of swinging out, which helps in tight parking spots and changes the whole look of the truck.

The hinges bolt straight to the Tacoma’s factory bolt pattern, so nothing about the mounting points has to be modified, and the kit is completely reversible if you ever want the truck back to stock. Every piece is made in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the design is patented here. A step-by-step instruction manual ships with the kit and VDI backs it with free tech support, but we still recommend having a professional installer do the work using those instructions. One thing to know before ordering: truck and SUV kits are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, so double-check your model year first.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
