Description

The 1978-1987 Chevrolet El Camino carries long two-door sheet metal, and in a tight spot those doors need serious room to swing. This Vertical Doors, Inc. conversion kit changes how they open: up instead of out. It fits all trim models of the El Camino from 1978 through 1987 and carries part number VDCCHEVYEL7887. Everything arrives in one box:

  • 2 Vertical Doors, Inc. lambo door hinges, one for each side
  • 2 gas shocks
  • All mounting hardware

The hinges mount to the El Camino factory bolt pattern, so the kit is a direct bolt-on, though plan on some drilling and tapping during fit-up. The hardware is made in the USA from domestic hardened steel and the design is patented. The conversion is also reversible: unbolt the kit and the car returns to stock. An instruction manual is supplied with the kit and Vertical Doors, Inc. backs it with free tech support, but we recommend having a professional installer handle the job and work from those instructions. Note that truck and SUV kits, this one included, are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
